Ashley Furniture received a 2023 Recycling Excellence Award from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, which highlights the company’s efforts and innovation in recycling polystyrene and other materials.
In 2022, Ashley Furniture launched a company-wide recycling tracking program implemented at all U.S. manufacturing facilities and distribution centers. Across all of Ashley’s advanced manufacturing and distribution locations, the program recycled 92,560 tons of materials, including polystyrene, adding more than $4.6 million in revenue to the company.
Polystyrene is widely used in packaging materials to provide protection for goods during transportation. Although polystyrene is valued for its low cost, cushioning, waterproofing and insulating qualities, it often has a harsh environmental impact due to a lack of recycling infrastructure. People mistakenly believe that polystyrene is only a single-use plastic and dump foam waste into landfills. In reality, discarded polystyrene can have a second life through recycling. Through collecting, compression, and granulation, loose waste foam can be turned into clean recycled polystyrene particles that can be transformed into usable products.
There are many benefits to companies recycling waste polystyrene. Using a professional GREENMAX foam recycling machine, light and bulky foam waste can be compressed into compact foam ingots, which can be sold to the manufacturer. INTCO Recycling is an expert in the field of polystyrene recycling and has experience in the research and development of GREENMAX foam recycling machines. With more than 20 years of experience, the team also provides foam repurchase services to customers around the world. If the customer does not want to spend time and energy looking for downstream buyers, we will purchase the customer’s foam waste at a preferential price to make frame products, hoping to achieve win-win cooperation. Through the sale of foam waste, these companies can convert polystyrene from waste into a steady stream of company income, which not only saves the costs of foam disposal and landfill, but also reduces the environmental harm of waste foam.
INTCO Recycling, as a foam recycler and manufacturer, has been committed to the global foam recycling industry and is determined to play its part in protecting the planet we call home.
