French Suez Environment Group CEO Jean-Louis Xiao Sade said that waste plastics recycling and reuse market has a huge potential for development in December first. The Group seeks to achieve the amount of waste plastic recycling doubled by 2020.
Suez Environment Group is the world’s second-flood works and waste disposal company, with operations in more than 70 countries and regions. Currently, the company has nine plastic waste processing plants, all located in Europe. These plants processing more than 400,000 tons per year of waste plastics, and of which about 135,000 tons were recycled.
It is said that the European plastics production within the 50 years, an increase of 150 times, has reached 50 million tons per year. However, in the 25 million tons of plastic waste generated each year and only 25% are recycled. The new goal of recycling economy in July this year, the European Commission proposed in 2030 called on Member States to household packaging waste recovery rate will be increased to 80%, while the majority by plastic packaging products.
Circular economy is the core of Suez Environment Group’s development strategy.
