As the awareness of recycling increases and more government strategies support it, Styrofoam recycling is used in more and more cities and districts. There is a recycling event held by the Solid Waste Utility Division in Renton which collected Styrofoam and documents for shredding. This event provided a significant solution for residents to bring waste foams and documents to be recycled instead of taking them to landfills directly.
The residents who attended the event put waste foams into the Styrofoam densifier to make them get crushed, densified and turned into bricks. Previously, the transportation of waste Styrofoam was a challenge which is lightweight but takes up a lot of space. Hence, many people chose to landfill or burn them, which were two ways that seriously polluted the environment. However, with the assistance of the Styrofoam densifier, these foams not only can be compacted and transported efficiently but also can avoid contaminating the soil, water and air resources.
The recycling process will pay off in the long run and gives the waste Styrofoam a second life. Through steps of cutting and compression, Styrofoam scraps can be processed into high-density bricks that can be sold to processors to be made into various frame products and decorative items. This means that the waste can be valuable again, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution.
