Summit County resident Doug Bair has taken the initiative to help establish an expanded polystyrene collection site, not only diverting these recyclable materials from landfills but also reusing this waste EPS.
Highland Country Conservation Center purchased the grey plastic boxes for EPS foam recycling, which is located in the upper parking lot of Our Lady of Mount Dillon Lutheran Church. Hence, the residents of Summit County can throw the waste EPS into these trash cans. And then, Bair and his friends will transport the collected EPS foam to a recycling center in Arvada proactively. It is worth noting that only clean EPS can be recycled in this collection site and any foam with shiny coating is not accepted. Currently, a large number of residents and communities have actively engaged in EPS foam recycling, because collecting EPS can maintain the cleanliness of the whole communities’ environment, divert waste foam from landfills, and alleviate the plastic pollution problem.
Many countries and regions have realized the serious environmental pollution caused by the landfilling of waste EPS products, so they have taken action to improve the development of EPS foam recycling in multiple ways, which have gotten good results. Some communities and residents started the collection event of waste foam, and purchased and installed EPS densifiers for EPS foam recycling. EPS densifier is specially designed for processing waste EPS, which can compress the foam into dense foam ingots at a high ratio, convenient for subsequent process and transportation. A professional EPS densifier is essential for EPS foam recycling. Due to EPS being composed of 2% plastic and 98% air, transportation is the biggest problem. GREENMAX EPS densifier is able to compact the foam to 1/90 of its original volume, saving the storage and costs of transportation and improving the efficiency greatly. The compressed EPS ingots can be stored in the warehouses of communities and companies, which not only saves warehouse storage, but also avoids the safety hazard issue caused by the accumulation of waste EPS foam. Additionally, compact EPS foam ingots can be sold to recyclers for further processing, completing the close loop of EPS foam recycling.
These EPS foam ingots will be processed into recycled particles after granulation, which can be remanufactured into environmentally friendly products, such as wall panels, mirror frames, floors, and so on. EPS foam recycling converts trash into brand-new recycled products, which not only can reduce the burden on the environment, but also makes waste foam become the raw material of recycled products, with economic and environmental benefits. And EPS foam recycling is an investment project. All products from the recycling process, such as EPS ingots and EPS particles, can be sold to down-stream recyclers for stable profits, hence, it can become a source of income for the communities. You don’t need to worry about the sales solution of EPS foam ingots and particles, GREENMAX will provide a buy-back service for our EPS densifier customers. We are both an EPS foam recycler and one of the biggest end users of foam, having the complete industry chain of EPS foam recycling and reuse. GREENMAX turns waste EPS into exquisite products like baseboard decoration and photo frames, and then, sells them to major supermarkets and retail stores around the world.
