Brazil’s national solid waste policy was enacted in 2010, the purpose of enactment of this policy is to urge all sectors, including agricultural industry, a good deal of waste generated in the production process. So far, the Brazilian agricultural industry has achieved 94% recovery of agricultural products packaging.
According to the Brazilian National Association of packaging waste processing statistics in June 2014, there are more than 300,000 tons of pesticide packaging waste was sent to the specified cleanup . Only the first half of this year, the field clean up the system handled 22,000 tons of waste material. Compared to the same period last year, the amount of processing increased by 7% of the total packaging waste. In this regard the president of the organization stressed that it was the manufacturer, industry associations of farmers to integrate all aspects of the results together.
Since 2002, the industry has invested 700 million reais for field operation to clean the system. Recycling of waste packaging in spending by producers assume 3%-4% of the total, the cooperative management of the warehouse to bear 15%, and the remaining 80% borne by the industry because the industry need to be responsible.
On pesticide packaging waste is concerned, about 40 percent of the cost will be to clean up the system to make up for the field itself, the government has licensed the reverse logistics chain exempt taxes and other expenses.
